Basic Function

The University Relations Specialist will be responsible for owning and executing full recruitment life cycle of interns, managers in training and Drury Sales Academy participants and partner with our leaders to determine the needs of the business. You will develop and execute university relations and recruitment strategies to network and hire the most qualified candidates, source and nurture relationships with prospective talent, conduct initial candidate interviews, manage candidates through the interview process, recommend placement decisions, measure and optimize university recruitment programs, all in support of delivering the best talent to the company.  You will be responsible for achieving university relations recruiting goals by conducting sales activities to identify key decision makers on college campuses and nurture those relationships to further penetrate opportunities to strengthen relationships.  You will develop relationships with campus career services personnel, faculty, staff, student clubs and associations, and advise on recruiting best practices and trends in order to ensure annual hiring goals are met.  The role involves devising and executing a campus strategy to build the Drury brand at colleges and universities across the United States while building and maintaining strong internal relationships with key business stakeholders. 

Job Duties
  1. Perform full-cycle university recruiting activities, including developing job postings and recruitment strategies, reviewing applicants, screening and evaluating candidates and supporting final selection process to meet the various staffing goals for next generation talent. Utilize creative sourcing strategies to build robust pipelines and drive talent to targeted events.
  2. Primary campus liaison to identify and contact target and new schools to uncover opportunities and facilitate the building of relationships with key stakeholders on those campuses to interact with students and staff to ensure access to top student talent.  
  3. Identify opportunities for Drury leaders to engage in on-campus activities for the purposes of creating awareness of the employment brand and engaging potential talent.
  4. Ensure each candidate has an unparalleled recruiting experience that signifies the opportunities and unique value proposition we offer.
  5. Continuous learner who stays abreast of trends in the marketplace about best in class university relations approaches, campus recruiting as well as recruitment marketing practices.  Stay up to date on changing landscape of campus hiring and legislative changes.
  6. Build analytical measurements and interpret findings, in order to drive innovation in the university relations space.  Evaluate the ongoing efficiency and cost effectiveness of campus recruiting initiatives.  Generate, analyze, and communicate standard recruiting reports, including assessment of progress to date, projections for future productivity, diagnosis of potential problem areas. 
  7. Develop strategies and workflows to enhance on-campus initiatives to connect with students, i.e. networking events, information sessions, career fairs, mock interviews, resume reviews, targeted events etc. 
  8. Ensure campus and virtual events, presentations and interviews are well planned, organized and executed.
  9. Manage university recruitment budget effectively and track return on investment for the program.
  10. Create detailed school strategic plans, with clearly defined objectives, desired outcomes, diversity recruiting plans, and calendar of events.
  11. Develop, communicate and implement university relations workshops, training and toolkits to ensure that campus teams and presenters have the necessary information and skills needed to be effective on campus.
  12. Develop talent pipelines needed to meet current, near term, and long term organizational objectives including talent for future leadership roles.
General Knowledge, Skill and Ability
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales or related discipline. 
  • 3 years of sales, university relations or full lifecycle recruiting experience required.
  • This individual must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer management skills while displaying the highest degree of integrity in implementing the industry's best practices (sourcing, recruiting, candidate assessment). The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organized, strategic and understand the urgency and confidentiality of the recruiting function.  Strong social skills and the ability to lead multiple projects across multiple geographies in a fast-paced, high impact team. 
  • Ability to actively build rapport, credibility, and influence to support talent pipeline development.  High level of professional maturity and track record of developing strong client partnerships.
  • Ability to strategize and implement in an ever-changing environment.
  • Requires knowledge of sales techniques and professional business practices. 
  • Project management experience in managing large and small-scale events.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic who can confidently work independently as well as with a team.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and consultative skills to work closely with hiring managers at all levels. Strong problem solving, negotiation, influencing and networking skills.
  • Ability to effectively execute expectations and meet hiring deadlines.
  • Ability to travel throughout the year to campuses and related events with heavier travel during Fall and Spring (up to 40%).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Experience with Applicant Tracking Software/Systems (ATS) highly preferred.
