Basic Function

The eLearning Specialist is responsible for providing technical expertise to assist professional work groups in the area of developing and revising elearning courses. This role supports projects internally and is responsible for tasks and assignments associated with the development of learning solutions.

Job Duties

Multimedia Development

  • Creates multimedia products using a variety of software programs, primarily in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Articulate. 
  • Delivers products on-time with minimal defects.
  • Manipulates and edits digital imagery, video and incorporates graphics and effects.
  • Manipulates and edits sound using appropriate software applications. 

Graphic Design 

  • Creates images and animations that identify a concept or convey a message utilizing graphic design techniques.
  • Develops graphics for classroom-based training, online training and websites.
  • Selects colors, images, text styles and layouts that are professional, align with brand guidelines and convey a specific message. 
  • Incorporates changes recommended by stakeholders. 
  • Reviews designs for errors before printing or publishing.
  • Develops graphics for course catalogs and course information sheets. 

Instructional Design 

  • Develops instructor guides, job aids and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.
  • Applies creative design to the discipline of instructional design with an emphasis on multimedia.
  • Develops instructional programs that leverage new technologies and multimedia. 
  • Applies interactive learning principles to instructional solutions for adult learners. 
  • Selects, modifies and integrates existing instructional materials that employ multimedia and emerging technologies. 

Design eLearning

  • Creates/Revises elearning using Articulate software. 
  • Maintains elearning content using Articulate software. 
  • Works with project team and subject matter experts to design and develop SCORM compliant elearning. 
  • Researches subject matter to provide accurate and up to date information.
  • Develops storyboards and scripts for elearning and virtual live training.
  • Uploads and configures elearning content into learning management system. 
  • Integrates emerging instructional methods and technologies into elearning. 

Training Program Production 

  • Produces training programs for virtual or live training through Microsoft TEAMS.
  • Produces training scripts to accompany storyboards that are grammatically correct and accurate.
  • Advises and assists with updating procedures as necessary.

  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyboard 360.
Mental and Physical Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in multimedia design, graphic design, instructional design, or a related field in learning development is required.

Experience: 3-5 years demonstrated experience as an elearning developer and 1-3 years’ experience using Articulate Storyline or newer elearning software.  Experience and proficiency with LMS systems is required; Workday experience is preferred.

Physical Skills:  Requires ability to work in a seated position for the work day, read a computer screen and operate a computer for extended periods of time. Requires ability to stand for extended periods of time (i.e. during a photo shoot). Requires the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. (i.e. for video equipment).
