Basic Function

Under general supervision, operates the hotel shuttle van to provide guests and potential guests with convenient and reliable transportation to and from the airport while following Company policies and procedures. Van Drivers welcome and create a positive first/last impression upon guest arrival/departure. This function includes assisting with loading and unloading of guest luggage, providing information in regard to the hotel’s facilities and events, and directions to local attractions. Ensures the van is clean and in like new condition at all times – including assisting with monitoring routine maintenance and immediately reporting in mechanical concerns.

Job Duties

  1. Welcomes guests to the city, conveys a +1 Service attitude and provides courteous, friendly guest service by responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries, requests and complaints.
  2. Is familiar with and provides information on local attractions, hotel facilities and directions in and around the area to include the airport, major interstates etc.
  3. Assists guests on arrival and departure through friendly, efficient transportation to and from the Airport or assigned designation. To include opening van doors and loading/unloading luggage.
  4. Follows all state safety rules and regulations when operating the van to ensure safe transportation of guests to and from the Airport or assigned designation.
  5. Inquires and monitors guests' satisfaction upon leaving the hotel, and informs management of special comments made by guests.
  6. Complies with hotel's safety / security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow team members and the hotel.
  7. Appreciates the diversity of our team and guests and contributes to maintaining a positive work environment at all times.
  8. Keeps an accurate record of all maintenance, fueling, cleaning and any repairs.
  9. Submits items left by guests to supervisor according to lost-and-found policy.
  10. Ensures the vans interior and exterior are clean and in like new condition at all times - including assisting with monitoring routine maintenance. Inspects the interior and exterior of the van at the beginning of each shift and immediately reports any possible mechanical concerns or damage.
  11. Ensures the van is clean and fueled prior to the end of the shift to minimize any guest inconvenience during shift change.
  12. Assists in general clean-up of the public areas such as lobby, parking lots, swimming pool and other areas as assigned.
  13. May perform security duties as assigned to include making rounds to observe the hotel hallways and exterior of hotel on foot or in the vehicle.
  14. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Requires ability to take written and verbal direction in English and speak English clearly.

Requires ability to communicate in a friendly manner with guests in order to create a warm, relaxing, efficient environment.

Must maintain a good driving record and notify management immediately of any changes in your driving record.

Mental and Physical Requirements

AGE: Must be at least 21 years of age (unless state law requires a higher age).

EDUCATION: Requires knowledge, skill and mental ability equivalent to completion of 2 years of high school.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Driver’s license and good driver’s record required.  Proof of insurability required. Requires the ability to meet all local airport transportation authority requirements. Requires a passing score on both a written and driving exam. A chauffeur's license may be required for operation of vans / shuttles that exceed 12 passengers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Requires ability to operate a motor vehicle, walk and stand during entire working period of up to 8 hours; requires ability to lift, carry and/or transport luggage weighing up to 75 pounds intermittently during the work shift. Requires the ability to perform tasks that include bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and walking long distances continuously during a shift.

Reports to the Assistant General Manager or General Manager

Cooperates with all other team members
