Job Title:  Evening Food and Beverage Server

Basic Function

Under general supervision, prepares the 5:30 Kickback® for guests following Company policies and procedures. Maintains the food service / lobby area in a clean, well organized manner, and assists guests with Kickback service. Presents a high standard of integrity, service and hospitality at all times to promote the Drury culture with customers and co-workers. Has a general knowledge of the hotel, area and events to answer guest’s questions.

Job Duties

  1. Has a +1 Service Attitude and provides courteous, friendly guest service by anticipating guest’s needs and responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries, requests and complaints.
  2. Sets up and maintains 5:30 Kickback® by preparing hot food items according to the Drury training guidelines and follows the Daily Set-up and 5:30 Kickback® Quick Prep Chart
  3. Prepares and serves mixed drinks, beer and wine to guests who meet age requirements according to state and / or local laws. **
  4. Tracks all alcohol usage using the Daily Alcohol Tracking form and turns in to management as requested. **
  5. Refuses to serve liquor to anyone who is under age, or who appears inebriated. Follows all company policies regarding alcohol service including but not limited to: drink coupons, tipping, etc. **
  6. During serving hours, maintains serving areas by restocking as needed; cleans counters, floors and tables as needed, prepares additional food items to keep up with demand. Greets / interacts with guests by engaging in conversation.
  7. Appreciates the diversity of our team and guests and contributes to maintaining a positive work environment at all times.
  8. After service has ended, washes all pans, prep items, equipment and storage containers according to sanitation guidelines. Cleans off tables, behind counter, kitchen area, disposes of glasses, napkins, etc. (may mop floors and / or vacuum carpet). Also restocks all supplies as needed including but not limited to: silverware holders, napkin holders, cabinets etc.
  9. Completes the 5:30 Kickback® Quick Prep Chart at the end of serving hours each day.
  10. Conducts inventory of all food and service items in order to maintain proper serving levels; may place order with vendors for routine items with supervisor’s approval.
  11. Completes special weekly cleaning duties: i.e., refrigerators, storage areas, cabinets, proofer, convection oven, juice / soda machines, etc.
  12. Monitors guests' satisfaction of the 5:30 Kickback, and informs management of special comments made by guests.
  13. Appreciates the diversity of our team and guests and contributes to maintaining a positive work environment at all times.
  14. Complies with hotel's safety / security rules and instructions in performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow workers and the hotel.
  15. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

** Duties 3, 4 and 5 only apply to those team members approved and certified to serve alcoholic beverages.

General Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Requires ability to take written and verbal direction in English and speak English clearly.

Requires ability to communicate in a friendly manner with guests in order to create a warm, comfortable, relaxing environment. 

Requires knowledge of hotel accommodations, the community and hotel services.

Requires ability to conduct accurate inventory of food items and calculate order levels.

Mental and Physical Requirements


EDUCATION:    Requires knowledge, skill and mental ability equivalent to completion of 2 years of high school.

EXPERIENCE:  Previous experience in working with the public or food service experience preferred, but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Requires ability to walk and stand during entire working period of 4 - 6 hours. Requires ability to lift 20 - 30 pounds intermittently during the work shift. Requires ability to push a vacuum, reach, stretch, and bend in routine daily activities.

Working Relationships

Reports to General Manager or Executive Housekeeper.

Maintains and promotes a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments.
